Dr. Josh is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern working under the supervision of Amee Elder. He earned a master's degree in counseling from Austin Peay State University and a doctor of education degree in counselor education and supervision from Argosy University Nashville. In addition, he holds the national certified counselor and approved clinical supervisor credentials. He has prior experience working as a school counselor at both the elementary and high school levels, and he is also currently a counselor educator and faculty member at Capella University.

 

Dr. Josh has experience working with clients of all ages -- adults, teens, and children. He specializes in working with clients experiencing life or family transitions, job or work-related stress, or relationship issues. He has experience working with clients living with anxiety or depression, and he is passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ clients. He is also available to support high school and college students on a wide-range of school and student-related issues, including career development, life planning, and college exploration.

 

In counseling, Dr. Josh uses many techniques but primarily operates from a strengths-based, solution-focused approach. He has a focus on the here-and-now and operates from the perspective that we are influenced but not defined by the past. With kids and teens, he enjoys incorporating play therapy and expressive arts techniques. Because each person is different, Dr. Josh always strives to create a safe, client-centered environment and tailors his approach based on the unique needs and preferences of client.

 

Dr. Josh is currently accepting new clients, and he offers Saturday appointments. He accepts cash, check, or credit card.
